AUGUST DUDE, W T F!!!

I can't believe I haven't posted anything since August. It's flat out disappointing in what that is. Liek I've said before, I have no excuses, but here's what's keeping me from the longest running journal of my life recently. Hold on, this might take a while.

Work. Up until recently (as in "up until TODAY") has been nothing short of a fucking nightmare. I've een really burned out at work. I don't like being there, I don't like coding anymore, and I really started to feel like I work in a sweatshop or some huge industrial manufacturing plant on an assembly line. 1 site a day, 1 site a day - over and over and over and over. So fucking monotonous it was enough to make you sick. Add in the fact we're detroying our goals and what's the reward? Higher quota's, a push to get EVEN MORE sites out, and a TON of bullshit to go with it.

Glad I'm switching teams because I found out today they're bumping up our weekly goals by one more site. I could go on for days, but I think you get my point. Anyways, there's more important stuff to talk about anyways - fuck work and all the "company men" who drink the kool-aid and shit on their co-workers. Fuck you.

What else? I'm taking on too many side projects. I'm working for a freelance company and getting paid practically nothing to do some SEO work. It's frustrating because I really want to do other things and get my own site up and running, and then get the other two side projects (family members - MEH) off my plate so I can free up some time and concentrate on learning design. 2010 is going to be my big push to learn design so I need to figure something and figure it out FAST.

Alright, now it's out of my sytem, let's proceed. I gotta cover a few quick things, than I'll get to the run down like I always do, of previous years and in this case, the decade in review.

A few Kkey things which have happened since August? I almost have my site finished, but seem to have stalled out when I needed to write 15 pages of content. Hopefully the three days I took off in January will help to finally make it a reality.

I was playing hockey twice a week and felt like I was really at a peak (both physically and mentally). I was playing defense really well, I was pushing up into odd man situations, backchecking like a champ and really felt good when I was on the puck. I was beating guys and scoring both on Wednesday and Monday's (JMS). One fateful Wednesday night, I chased a puck into the corner (on the last shift of course - damn my luck) and got tied up with a guy, went down and slammed shoulder first into the boards. Of course I wasn't wearing shoulder pads. A trip to the ER, several x-rays later and the Doc thought I fractured my shoulder. I found it amusing since I was Twittering the whole affair while it happened on my iphone. The next day I went to TRIA and the "specialist" there told me not to worry, it wasn't broken. Give it ten days and you'll be fine is what he said. I took 6 weeks off instead. Now I don't chase pucks into the corner, and am back at square 1. Might be a while before I get back to where I was before the injury. Now I wear shoulder pads.

Anyways, Thanksgiving was a bust because Bren was sick, and then Christmas was a bust because Kenz was sick.

I dropped AT&T Wireless and went with Verizon Wireless. I had upgraded my iphone to the HTC Tilt 2 and hated it from day one. The slide out keyboard was nice, but Windows Mobile 6.5 sucks major balls. In order to get the best use out of the phone you needed to use a stylus. Yes, I said STYLUS. You know the thing people used in the 90's with their Palm Pilots. Here it is 2009 and these idiots are still using a stylus to get the most out of their phone? Oh yeah, and the internet was slower than dial-up. I mean, Safari on my iphone was BLAZING compared to the HTC Windows Explorer browser. The final straw was they had about 10 apps in thier online store and most cost money.

After I called their online team, they directed me to go to the store, return the phone and then get the iphone 3Gs, the phone I really wanted. I go in, and the lady tells me since they authorized the upgrade early, and I wasn't eligible until March, I can't get any discount. This means I have to pay and extra $100 for the 3Gs in addition to the $300 I already paid for the Tilt2. Fucking LAME. So I told them I would call the online people back and see what THEY could do for me. No luck. Dude told me I needed to return the phone, reverse the upgrade and then wait a few days (without a phone mind you since I already sold my iphone) and then call back and they'd see what they could do. It was the last straw. The next day, I went to the mall, returned the phone, then went upstairs to the Verizon booth and got the Motorola DROID.

As of right now, I couldn't be happier. Love the phone for a thousand reasons, and the reception and fast internet has been outstanding. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

A few more important events:

1) Got my Linux laptop up and running again. Mandriva 2010 rocks! I have fallen in love again with my Linux. I also decided to take a shot at learning Rails this year and installed the Ruby, Ruby Gems and SQLite packages. I've done a few tutorials and really like it so far.

2) DROID kicks ass. Got a guy at work who's had his for a few months before I got mine so he gave me a list of applications to download and they all rock.

3) Got a new HP computer and then threw done for a 1TB Seagate Free Agent external drive to house all the videos of Kenz and the family pictures we have.

Here's the year in review as well as the decade in review. Some of this is pretty crazy.

Year in review ala Google Wave (how fitting eh?)

The decade in review in a 7 minute video - this one rocks.

Alrights - see you in 2010.

Seacrest OUT.
